NFL Week 10 Recap and “Beat the House” Results

NFL logoWeek 10 was a pretty difficult week to pick, but when the smoke cleared, most of the favorites were victorious… for once. The Members took advantage by going with safe picks and earning yet another weekly victory, besting the House 10 wins to 8. The Madden 09 Xbox 360 simulation had it’s first consecutive bad weeks and earned only 7 correct picks. The House now only has 2 weekly wins on the season, to the membership’s 7, with 1 tie.

The results to-date are:

* The House Madden Sim Members
Week 10: 8-6 7-7 10-4
2008 Overall: 76-68 86-58 87-57

The Challenge
If you take a glance at the House picks page, it might look like there are 3 disagrees, but guess again. When the Thursday night game started, the pick was in slight agreement, but agreement nonetheless. Nice try guys! I should hold back the prize this week.

The two picks that the collective membership did not like in week 10 were Buffalo over New England and the Philadelphia Eagles over the New York Giants. The two big division matchups did not fall the way the House had selected. The Philly/New York game went back and forth a few times, but the Buffalo/New England game wasn’t even close. The Patriots blew them away in every facet of the game.

We had 5 different members top the week nine leaderboard, all with 13 correct picks. Thirteen! That is pretty impressive in a 14-game week. I’m so impressed with all of you this week that I’m going to award all of you prizes. With 99 correct picks on the year, and leading all members so far, member ricksr will get the lone DVD prize pack.

game ballThat’s right, four members will get the Nerf Pro Grip Football. MadAnthony9, roatancharlie, JACK 87 and HRBitch, you all had great weeks, especially JACK who kicked ass in the very first week he played.

Tune back in on Thursday morning to once again agree or disagree with the House’s NFL week 11 picks and predictions.

The League
As I mentioned previously, most of the favorites won in week 10. That is VERY refreshing to see. The only favorites that did not come out on top were Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Philly. The Browns and Eagles being favored in their games were a real stretch too, so things worked out the way they should have this week. It’s about time.

With most of the favored teams winning, there really isn’t much to talk about is there? Oh yeah, there’s that one team that is 9-0.

Whatever.

Fantasy Land

There’s that name again… Tyler Thigpen. Tyler makes the top 5 for the second week in a row. I still don’t think many fantasy managers have caught on yet. He’s only on 11% of Yahoo Sports rosters.

We have a full house this week with three QBs and two tight ends. Here they are…

Jay Cutler
Quarterback – Denver Broncos
In 34-30 win over the Cleveland Browns
– 24/42 for 447 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT.

Tyler Thigpen
