The TMRzoo “Beat the House” Week 13 picks and predictions are live. In week 12 the House stunk up the joint… again. The House posted only 8 wins to the collective membership’s 10.5. The Madden 09 simulation on the Xbox 360 had another bad week and tallied a disgraceful 5 correct picks. Get your week 13 picks in now and try your best to Beat the House and move up the TMR Leaderboard in the process.
It’s Thanksgiving week! Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that there are three Turkey Day games now, the third courtesy of the NFL Network. Remember to get your picks in before kickoff of the first game Thursday if you want a shot at any of the wonderful prizes listed below.
There are some really tough games on the schedule this week. I’m smelling a 12 game week for the House… whether the 12 is in the win or loss column, who knows. Six of the week 13 games feature division match-ups. Saints/Bucs, Giants/Skins and Bears/Vikings are the highlights of those games. The Chicago-Minnesota game is for sole possession of first place.
The other tough games are Green Bay hosting Carolina, Atlanta at San Diego and the Steelers visiting New England. Of course, each one of those could be blowouts… Green Bay, Atlanta and New England could get rolled on. Tune in if you can nonetheless. It will be interesting to see Cassel and the Patriots face a defense as fiesty as the Steelers’.
The playoff scenarios are starting to form. The funniest part is that the NFC South looks like they could be sending three representatives into the post season. The talk at the beginning of the year was that the NFC East was the gold standard in the conference. With the exception of the Giants, injuries, cold streaks and drama have plagued those teams and the result was witnessed in the loss column. The fact that they have been beating each other up all season long doesn’t help either. There are still 5 NFC East games remaining on the schedule so they could very well keep each other from the playoff, with exception of the division winner.
Beat the House
The rules of “Beat the House” are easy… Each week, our resident football genius will predict the outcome of all the week’s games. You, the members, agree or disagree with the “House” picks in hopes to achieve a better set of picks for the week. If the collective membership predicts more games correctly, then the House is beaten and prizes are awarded. What prizes? You’ll have to read on below.
Every member’s total picks will be tracked over the course of the season and displayed on the weekly leaderboard. At the end of the season, the member with the most correct overall picks will be named the grand prize winner. (Grand Prize sponsor is yet to be determined.)
Sound easy enough? It is. The best part is that there are no entry fees and no obligations. All you have to do is register in the TMR forums because we track your picks using that screen name… so choose it wisely.
The Prizes…
If the House is beaten, one random member will win a DVD prize pack containing at least 3-5 DVDs. The pack will include at least one current-release DVD. Be on the look out for special releases and box sets as well. Again, this is only awarded to a member IF the collective membership Beats that House for that given week.
The member with the most correct picks each week is guaranteed a new Pro Grip Football, courtesy of NERF. If more than one member leads the pack in any given week, ties will be broken by overall picks on the year. Winners can choose from 7 pre-selected NFL team footballs. Not all NFL teams are available.
Along with the transition to the new site comes an exciting twist to the weekly activities. After members have made their weekly game selections, it is time to participate in the “Visionman Players of the Week”. Members guess who they think will be named the offensive and defensive players of the week. If both of those players are named as the NFL players of the week for that specific week, the member is awarded a Widow WGMI-1NG700 Intel Gaming PC, pictured above, from Widow PC. Please, PLEASE read the official rules for this part of the contest… espeically the spelling part.

The Playboy.com Perfect Pick Set
Perfection is not easy to come by in the NFL… just ask the 2007 New England Patriots. If a member picks a perfect week, they should be rewarded. Our friends at Playboy and Playboy.com understand and appreciate perfection, so they will be awarding a full one-year subscription to the Playboy.com Cyber Club (a $240 value) to any member who guesses every game correctly in any given week. To be eligible for the Playboy.com Perfect Prize pack, you must be 18 years of age or older and must confirm that age using a valid credit card. Don’t worry, the membership is still on them.
So how does all that sound? All you have to do is register in the TMRzoo forums (if you haven’t already) and visit the Beat the House weekly picks page to make your selections. We’re very much looking forward to this ultimate version of “Beat the House” and I hope you are as well. Tune back in on Tuesday, and every Tuesday throughout the season, to see the updated leaderboard and where you rank against The House and the rest of the membership.
