Some say that EA Sports is just “mailing it in” each year with no true competition in the NFL Football gaming world. Some say that this classic football gaming franchise has been to reduced to simply being a yearly roster update. Other say the game just doesn’t cut it anymore in terms of realism and has gone the way of arcade football versus the sim, in which it earned it’s stripes.
Based on some newly released information, here are 10 more good reasons NOT to purchase Madden 09 when it hits store shelves this August:
10. Eli Manning has an overall rating of 93.
9. Eli Manning has an overall rating of 93.
8. Eli Manning has an overall rating of 93.

5. Eli Manning has an overall rating of 93.
4. Eli Manning has an overall rating of 93.
3. Eli Manning has an overall rating of 93.
2. Eli Manning has an overall rating of 93.
and finally…
1. Eli Manning has an overall rating of 93.
Think I’m kidding? pastapadre.com has posted screenshots of all of the teams’ depth charts, complete with player and team ratings.
As for Manning, the kid is a last name and one or two plays in the Superbowl away from being 10 to 15 points lower in that Madden rating. A league-wide obsession with the name Manning has led to two consecutive undeserving Superbowl MVP awards. A 73.9 QB rating, 56.1 completion percentage and 20 interceptions does not equal a ranking of 93 out of 100. He’ll be out of football in 3 years. He’d be out in 1 if the New York Giants’ insane pass rush didn’t single-handedly win them the Superbowl.
Of course, the game isn’t released yet, so EA Sports has plenty of time to correct this major oversight and remove at least one flaw from this once-great NFL gaming franchise.
