(August 4, 2008 – TMRZoo.com) ESPN will kick off its Monday Night Football preseason schedule with the New Orleans Saints at Arizona Cardinals Thursday, Aug. 7, at 8 p.m. ET. Mike Tirico (play-by-play) and analysts Ron Jaworski and Tony Kornheiser will call four NFL preseason games during the month, in anticipation of the regular-season opener on Monday, Sept. 8.
All games will be televised at 8 p.m. Each preseason game will be preceded by a one-hour Monday Night Countdown hosted by Chris Berman with analysts Cris Carter, Mike Ditka, Tom Jackson, Keyshawn Johnson and senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.
The New Orleans-Arizona opener will feature quarterback Drew Brees and running back Reggie Bush for the Saints against Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart — Bush’s former USC teammate — and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. The game will be played at University of Phoenix Stadium, which hosted Super Bowl XLII in February
