LOS ANGELES, July 20, 2009 – What was once just a small comic book convention for a dedicated group of fans has become a true pop culture phenomenon. Comic-Con is now one of the biggest conventions in the world devoted to comic books, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, movies, video games, TV and more. And G4 is once again the only network bringing all the news headlines, exclusive premieres, crazy costumes, panel discussions, celebrity appearances and outrageous fans LIVE from the Comic-Con show floor to TV audiences. G4’s coverage begins Saturday, July 25 at 2PM ET/PT with a two-hour presentation of the Star Wars™ Comic-Con Spectacular!, the first-ever televised Comic-Con panel. Following, G4 presents three-hours of LIVE comprehensive coverage from 4-7PM ET/PT.
Packing more than 160,000 people into the San Diego Convention Center last year, the convention has become the launch pad for major announcements and development deals among comic book publishers, movie studios, TV networks, video game developers and more, making it a mainstream attraction. G4’s televised coverage of this year’s convention will be hosted by Attack of the Show’s Olivia Munn and Kevin Pereira and will include breaking news announcements, world premiere trailers, outrageous fans and costumes, in-depth reviews, as well as live interviews with directors, producers and stars from top films and TV shows.
“Comic-Con is probably the most significant event of the year for G4’s young male audience,” said Neal Tiles, President, G4. “Many networks use Comic-Con as a platform to promote their shows but G4 is the only network that views Comic-Con as the show itself. We recognize that the news and buzz that come out of the convention greatly determines what our viewers will be passionate about in the coming year.”
