It’s very late in the season and we had another “clunker” week of football. The were some crazy results again to the extent that 12 correct picks out of 16 was the highest that any member or staff could muster. As for the competition, we had a push. Two games were disagreed with and they were split. All three factions… the membership, the Sim and the House tallied 10 wins apiece in week 16. A shoddy week for everyone considering 16 games are up for grabs. The season total stands at 11 wins for the Members to 3 for the House… with one more to go. Tune back in to make your week 17 NFL picks and predictions. It’s go time!
The season stats so far are:
* | The House | Madden Sim | Members |
Week 16: | 10-6 | 10-6 | 10-6 |
2009 Overall: | 140-84 | 127-97 | 152-72 |
The two games the membership didn’t like were our Sunday and Monday night contests. The House had Dallas continuing their annual December slide, but it didn’t happen as they shutout the hapless Redskins. The Cowboys have actually been playing some decent football lately as they try to wrestle the NFC East title from the Eagles in week 17.
Monday Night Football saw the House’s pick of a Bears upset of the Vikings come to fruition. Only 13% of members liked the picks, and rightfully so… most of Chicago’s explosive players were out due to injury, and Minnesota had been one of the NFC’s top teams all season long. It was a hell of a game that was taken into overtime. The Vikings are reeling heading into the playoffs as they lost their grip of the #2 seed in the conference.
Speaking of losing a grip on a lead, we have a new member in the catbird seat at the top of the Beat the House leaderboard. Desert11 is one game ahead of mcole going into the final week. It’s now a 2-horse race and really anyone’s game. Good Luck, gentlemen.
The second part of our competition, the Nickent Players of the Week, will be decided on Wednesday when the NFL announces the top performers for week 16. The prize is a full set of golf clubs and we actually had a winner in week 1. The odds are on your side, so go for it!
The rules for voting are going to change this week. We are going to keep voting open from Wednesday until kickoff Sunday as usual, but you you enter picks after kickoff Thursday, you aren’t getting credit for that first game like in past weeks. Get your picks in!
