MLB Double Play Contest: Dallas Braden Starts the Week Off With A Perfect Game for the Oakland Athletics

braden-mainWeek 5 of the TMR Zoo MLB Double Play Contest kicked off with a bang as Dallas Braden of the Oakland Athletics allowed no hits, walks or runs to score in the first game of the week against the Tampa Bay Rays. That’s nothing to shrug off either as the Rays are a pretty powerful run-scoring team and one of the most popular picked as the top offense in our Double Play Contest. Hopefully most of you picked the A’s as the team to allow the least amount of runs to score in week 4 because they are off to a great start… even though I’m sure Tampa Bay will be looking for a little revenge when they face each other again later in the week.

As for week 4, the Tampa Bay Rays DID show up as they were the team that allowed the least amount of runs to score in the week 4 stats period. They only permitted 11 runs to score over 6 games… posting 2 shutouts and only losing 1 game last week.

The popular New York Yankees scored the most runs during week 4, with 51. Many of you guessed the Yankees correctly in that department, but nobody who did also picked the Tampa Bay Rays to have the best pitching staff… so therefore the prize pack rolls over into week 5 and another item is added to the pot.

Its now time to enter your week 6 picks. Entering the Double Play contest couldn’t be easier. Essentially, all you need to do is pick two Major League Baseball teams. Using the drop down boxes on the entry page, pick the professional team you think will score the most runs in the upcoming week, then pick the team that will give up the least amount of runs. After you’ve selected your teams, guess the actual number of runs for each category in the fields provided. Each week we will update you on the top scoring teams in the league as well as the teams that allow the least amount of runs.

To win the prize, you must correctly identify the two teams. The scores you entered will be used to break any ties in the Double Play. If nobody can guess the two teams correctly, then no one wins the prize and it rolls over into the next week… and combined with another prize. The longer we go without a weekly winner, the bigger the prize pack becomes. Check the main prizing page to see how big the pot is now.

Once you’ve entered the TMR Zoo Double Play, you are automatically entered into the Jagermeister Grand Slam. If you have correctly guessed the two teams AS WELL as the exact number of runs scored and allowed, you have hit the Jager Grand Slam and win the Jagermeister 6-Bottle Shot Cooler.
