Week 15 of the TMR Zoo Double Play Contest saw a few firsts… the Toronto Blue Jays pitchers leading the league in least runs allowed for the week and the Chicago Cubs made their very first leader board in this contest this season.
The Cubs posted two double-digit scores last week to pad their stats… a 11-6 win over the Philadelphia Phillies and a 14-7 drubbing of the Houston Astros. They scored 44 total runs on the week to lead the majors in that category. The Cubbies were assisted by Marlon Byrd’s 4 runs and rookie outfielder Tyler Colvin’s 8… three via the long ball.
Colvin has a quiet 15 homers as the Cubs’ leadoff hitter this season. Keep and eye on him.
The Blue Jays only allowed 19 runs in their six week 15 games. The week saw two decent outings from starting pitcher Shaun Marcum as he notched two victories while only allowing 3 total runs in both starts. The Blue Jays have been on the board once already this year in this contest, but only on the runs scored side.
Since neither of these teams have lit the world on fire in either of the required stat categories, i should come as no surprise that not a single contestant picked either one. We had a few votes for Toronto as the top run scorer and a few for the Cubs on the pitching side… but they do not count.
Since there was no winner, its time to add another prize to the pot. This week we’re upping the ante and adding a Punch Cigar 3-Pack in a smoker tin with a $100 coupon off a Char-Broil Grill inside. Get it now while the summer grilling season is still in gear! Good Luck. Click below to make your week 17 entry.
Entering the Double Play contest couldn’t be easier. Essentially, all you need to do is pick two Major League Baseball teams. Using the drop down boxes on the entry page, pick the professional team you think will score the most runs in the upcoming week, then pick the team that will give up the least amount of runs. After you’ve selected your teams, guess the actual number of runs for each category in the fields provided. Each week we will update you on the top scoring teams in the league as well as the teams that allow the least amount of runs.
To win the prize, you must correctly identify the two teams. The scores you entered will be used to break any ties in the Double Play. If nobody can guess the two teams correctly, then no one wins the prize and it rolls over into the next week… and combined with another prize. The longer we go without a weekly winner, the bigger the prize pack becomes. Check the main prizing page to see how big the pot is now.
Once you’ve entered the TMR Zoo Double Play, you are automatically entered into the Jagermeister Grand Slam. If you have correctly guessed the two teams AS WELL as the exact number of runs scored and allowed, you have hit the Jager Grand Slam and win the Jagermeister 6-Bottle Shot Cooler.
Jagermeister, the brand known for pioneering the original bar party, with its signature Jagerettes, ground-breaking Tap Machine and category-changing Ice Cold Shots, is proud to introduce the newest innovation – the revolutionary new Jagermeister 6-Bottle Shot Cooler. The 6-Bottle shot cooler comes with six 750ml bottles and 50 shot cups – Just add ice and the party begins! You must be over 21 to win.
Remember, you are entering your guess for the UPCOMING week of baseball (8/01/10 – 8/07/10). The entry period for week 17 will close on Saturday at 11:59pm. Good Luck!
