We’ve seen this song-and-dance act from Sony many times before, like with the PlayStation 3 Slim, PS3 price drops, and the PSP Go!, but Sony first telling NowGamer that the PlayStation Phone was “fake”, then retracting that and saying “We do not comment on rumour and speculation” is tantamount to them declaring, “Yes, it’s real, leave us alone!”
NowGamer claimed:
“A closer look at the top screen in particular reveals a number of telltale signs, such as a large amount of dirt collecting around the screen, as well as mention of ‘A’ and ‘B’ buttons on the interface.”
Engadget responded to this denial by posting a gallery of pics, then running an interview with Sony America’s Senior Vice President of Marketing Peter Dille, who “thinks the PSP could use a cellular data connection [and] iPhone gamers ‘aren’t satisfied’.”
Dille seems to think that iPhone games are too casual and too much of time killers – maybe he should realize that that’s exactly what gamers generally want from mobile titles.
