The NFL has named it’s AFC and NFC offensive and defensive players of the week for week 10 of the 2010 football season. Michael Vick, quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles and Bryan McCann, cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys have earned the NFC honors. In the AFC, it was Denver Broncos’ quarterback Kyle Orton and New England Patriots’ safety James Sanders. Did you match up two players correctly in our Jagermeister Players of the Week contest.
Week 10 marked the third time in five weeks that a Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has been named player of the week (Kevin Kolb – week 6) and it is the second week in a row that Mike Vick has received the honor. In fact, many of the analysts, both former NFL members and geeks, during, after and the next morning crowned Vick’s Monday night performance as the best single quarterback performance they’ve ever witnessed. Tuesday morning the Football Hall of Fame in Canton asked the Eagles for the jersey Vick wore during the game, so they must have agreed as well.
Since Vick won the award in week 9, not many people picked him to repeat in week 10. I did see him paired with some pretty good defensive guesses… Troy Polamalu, Dwight Freeney, and even Clay Matthews, who won the NFC’s defensive honor last week. Unfortunately, Matthews was on his bye week and did not qualify.
Aside from the few Vick votes, we received only one for Kyle Orton and none for the two defensive players. Better luck next week!
