Hail to Kentucky Ale: A Decade on Tap

As “Cheers to 10 Years” billboards paint the city, Alltech’s Lexington Brewing Company is preparing for their decade celebration of brewing for Kentucky. Kentucky Ale, Kentucky Light and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale are blowing out birthday candles and reflecting on ten years as the most authentic brew of the Bluegrass.

Dr. Pearse Lyons, president and founder of Alltech, said, “Sales are up 108% year to date and our brewery has grown over 10 times its size since our inception. We have many reasons to be thankful and to tip our hats in congratulations to Kentucky Ale fans for getting us here”.

Looking back at Kentucky Ale’s 10 year history, there have been quite a few causes for celebration, including:

Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale

· 2010 World Beer Cup: Silver

· 2010 US Open Beer Championships: Silver

· 2009 World Beer Championships: Gold

· 2007 Great American Beer Festival: Silver

Kentucky Ale

· 2010 US Open Beer Championships: Gold

· 2009 World Beer Championships: Silver

Kentucky Light

· 2010 US Open Beer Championships: Silver

· 2009 World Beer Championships: Silver

· 2005 Great American Beer Festival: Bronze

Ten years of success is not the only reason the local brewery is celebrating. Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is fresh off of raising a pint with the world as the official beer of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. Other recent milestones include an expansion to the Cross Street property, which now features a welcome center, tasting area and new gift shop. As Alltech’s Lexington Brewing Company continues to grow in Kentucky and its most recent expansion into Ohio, the possibility of extending into other states is currently being considered as well.

The makers of Kentucky Ale have recently ventured into the liquor side of the beverage world by creating Pearse Lyons Reserve, a single malt whiskey, and Bluegrass Sundown, a bourbon-infused coffee concentrate, with the hopes of adding bourbon to their collection in the near future.

Anyone wishing to see the new facility is encouraged to take a tour Monday thru Friday at 3 pm or Saturday at 1pm. For more information about Alltech’s trio of beers, visit www.kentuckyale.com or become a fan on Facebook.
