All of Shipyard Brewing Company’s recipes are developed by Master Brewer Alan Pugsley, who is one of the most influential people in the craft brewing movement in North America. Pugsley’s career began in England where he worked under the tutelage of renowned brewer Peter Austin at the world-famous Ringwood Brewery in Hampshire before moving to the United States in 1986.
In tribute to Austin, the Brewer’s Brown Ale package depicts him at ease in the brew house raising a glass to his fellow brewers. In England, black cats are a symbol of good luck and this package also features an image of Austin’s legendary brew house cat, Bridget.
