The NCAA held their big Men’s Basketball Tournament seeding announcement special on Sunday evening… the official kickoff to March Madness. It is also marks the start of the biggest office pool in the football offseason. Of course, the reactions to the seeding did not go without immediate controversy, especially with the newfangled 68-team draw.
The Big East is being represented well with a whopping 11 teams in the tourney, but it was Pittsburgh earning a #1 seed that had more than a few pundits moaning… especially since Pitt failed to win a single game in their own postseason tournament.
Since three more teams were added to the tournament roster this year, we have two “qualifier” games on Tuesday and Wednesday being UAB (22-9) vs. Clemson (21-11) and Southern Cal (19-14) vs. Virginia Commonwealth (23-11) respectively. The NCAA has cutely dubbed these initial two games “The First Four”.

I’m a bit tired of these “announcement specials.” The NCAA made a big to-do over the announcement of the seedings. The biggest offender is still the NFL though, even outdoing that asshole Lebron James. The schedule announcement special, the Pro Bowl announcement special, the weekly suspension announcement special… we all get sucked into all of that crap.
Good Luck in your March Madness pools.
