Last Call For Madden NFL 12 Cover Athlete Fan Voting – Round 1

In just a few hours, the voting period for round 1 of the Madden NFL 12 cover athlete “tournament” will be closed. Round 2 begins immediately after the close of round 1 in this March Madness bracket-style voting system. This is the first time EA Sports is giving the fans this much of a say in choosing the Madden NFL cover athlete. They have teamed up with ESPN and the last player standing will be announced LIVE on “SportsNation” on ESPN2.

You can submit your vote, right now, at espn.go.com/sportsnation/feature/madden2012cover.

I understand that you have to provide all of the NFL fanbases with some interest in this voting process, but what I really don’t like about this is that there are clearly some players listed that are far from worthy of being on the Madden cover and plenty that have been left out in the cold because their team already is represented. So how are you going to go about voting? Do you want to keep voting for your favorite team’s player or do you want to pick their rival and strike them with the “Madden Curse”. If we’ve learned anything from “fan” voting over the years, especially from the MLB All-Star game, it’s that the fans rarely get it 100% right.

Have at it. It is a shame that the fans can’t put the people who have had the biggest impact on the game as of late…
