Just as we get Charlie Sheen and Mel Gibson off of the front pages – Nicolas Cage (born Nicolas Kim Coppola) ups the ante once again. Reports out of New Orleans today are that eccentric actor and ex-Elvis son-in-law Nicolas Cage has been arrested on charges of domestic abuse battery and disturbing the peace.
The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s office is reporting Cage was booked into the Orleans Parish Prison at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
According to Wikipedia: On April 15, 2011, at 11:30 PM, Cage was arrested in New Orleans in the city’s famed French Quarter district for suspicion of domestic abuse battery, disturbing the peace, and public intoxication, after a police officer was flagged down by onlookers after Cage allegedly grabbed his wife’s upper arm, while appearing to be under the influence. Cage was held in police custody until posting $11,000 USD bail.
Sadly the $11,000 bail is a bit more then the box office gross of Nicolas Cage’s last three movies combined – The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Season of the Witch and Drive Angry.
The alleged victim of the violence is Alice Kim is Cage’s third wife. Kim is a former waitress who previously worked at the Los Angeles restaurant Kabuki. Nicolas Cage ‘s most famous wife of course was Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis and ex-wife of Michael Jackson. New Orleans police did not immediately disclose details about his arrest.
