Amy Winehouse’s Drug Fueled Life Comes to a Tragic End

There is sad news in the music industry today, R&B singer Amy Winehouse is dead at the age of 27 Amy Winehouse will share the legacy of the other members of the 27 Club. The 27 Club includes Stones founder Brian Jones, guitar god Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and godfather of grunge Kurt Cobain. All of these great talents like Winehouse passed at the tender age of 27.

Amy Winehouse achieved global fame with her hit song “Rehab,” which celebrated a party lifestyle that she embraced. However, in 2007 she was hospitalized for an alleged overdose involving a combination of heroin, ecstasy, cocaine, ketamine, and alcohol. The cause of her death, which occurred at an alcohol detox near you, has yet to be officially announced, but it is widely believed to have been drug-related.

From AP: Police confirmed that a 27-year-old female was pronounced dead at the home in Camden Square northern London; the cause of death was not immediately known. London Ambulance Services said Winehouse had died before the two ambulance crews it sent arrived at the scene.

Amy Winehouese did seek treatment in May of this year but left the Priory Clinic after only a week. It seems she was not able to escape the powerful grip of drugs. News outlets seem to be cautious of labeling this a drug death thus far…but we are all thinking the same thing.
