Bethesda’s Pete Hines has revealed, quite casually, that there will be gay marriage in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which is shocking since the previous Elder Scrolls games didn’t have marriage of any sort at all. According to Hines, it’s not a “hush hush” topic, and that Bethesda isn’t “making a huge deal out of it.” He flatly added, “You can marry anyone.” This statement proved a little too open, when Hines then qualified:
“Sorry, should clarify. Not any NPC, just mean any male or female. Doesn’t matter what you’re playing.” Does this mean there will be online co-op allowing gamers to marry each other, much like Fable III? Or does it mean there will be specific NPCs that are marryable?
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be out on November 11, 2011 on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
