Evans Drumheads and PureSound Percussion are excited to announce the signing of John Wicks, drummer of soul/indie pop band Fitz and the Tantrums. John Wicks is a performing, touring, writing, and founding member of Fitz & The Tantrums (Dangerbird Records), based in Los Angeles. He is also a busy studio session drummer who has recently played live and/or recorded with Bruno Mars (Elektra) #1, Cee Lo Green (Elektra), B.o.B. (Atlantic), Meshell Ndegeocello, Chocolate Genius Inc. (One Little Indian Records), Burt Bacharach, Jessie Baylin (Verve Records), Money Mark (Brushfire/Universal), Cory Chisel (Columbia) Heather Porcaro, Diana DeGarmo (American Idol), and many more.
Since their first show at Hollywood’s Hotel Café in December 2008, Fitz & the Tantrums have toured with Maroon 5, played to thousands at Colorado’s world famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre, shared the stage on New Year’s Eve with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, and performed on KCRW’s esteemed show, Morning Becomes Eclectic, merely on the strength of their stellar five-song EP, Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1. Now, post-release of their debut full length, Pickin’ Up the Pieces, which has since earned them a 3 ½ star album review in Rolling Stone, the group is poised to get down across the universe.
Wicks plays Evans G2 Clear Drumheads and PureSound Custom Series Snare Wires and says, “Evans gives me the old school and futuristic sounds I hear from my turntable and in my head!”
