This year’s crazy QB lottery is quickly coming to a conclusion. With Manning being released just 48 hours ago the landscape in the NFL is already drastically changing. It has been reported that the St. Louis Rams and the Washington Redskins have struck a deal that will send the 2nd round pick and presumably Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III or RG3 to Washington.
From ESPN: In a pre-draft blockbuster trade, the St. Louis Rams have agreed in principle to send the second overall pick in this year’s draft to the Washington Redskins for three first-round draft picks and a second-round pick, according to a source in Cleveland familiar with the terms of the deal.
The trade, first reported by FoxSports.com, cannot be signed off on, turned in and processed until the new league year starts Tuesday at 4 p.m. EST, but it is expected to become official then.
Of course, the big story is still Peyton Manning. It looks like a horse race between the Miami Dolphins and the Denver Broncos at this point for the future Hall of Famer’s talents. The Kansas City Chefs seem to be a serious contender to land Peyton running a distant third.
As this storyline unfolds, the sub-story is – if the Denver Broncos sign Peyton Manning where does Tim Tebow go? We are also waiting to see where Matt Flynn lands. With a deep and talent draft and an extremely skilled free agent market. 2012 is looking to be a football fan’s dream. When the dust settles we will be looking at a whole new landscape in the NFL, the Lombardi trophy could be anybody’s
