Today’s New England Patriots vs. Denver Broncos could be one of most watched NFL games of the season. Two future Hall of Famers take the field today in Foxboro Massachusetts with similar agendas at hand. Someone is walking off the field with a losing record, as the other creeps past the .500 mark. The saving grace for these two teams is they are both playing in horrible divisions, with plenty of time to lock up the division.
To the Patriots favor, division rivals the New York Jets play the (4-0) Houston Texans after an embarrassing blow out by the San Francisco 49ers. The San Francisco 49ers hosts the Buffalo Bills today and will most likely continue their slaughter of the ACF East. With a win the Patriots could finally be on the plus side and for the first time this year have lone control of the top spot in their division.
The Denver Broncos came out swinging this year. Peyton Manning and crew knocked off the Pittsburgh Steelers in their season debut. Since then they have struggled and climbed to .500 by gaining new momentum by beating the Oakland Raiders last week.
The Vegas odds makers have the Patriots winning this matchup by a 7½-point spread with the over/under total at 51½ points. I feel this is a generous spread and like the Broncos with the points and the over. The biggest factor in this game is the Patriots new rushing offence. If New England can get the running game going, they can keep Peyton Manning off the field and control the time of possession.
