Conrad Bain, the actor most noted as Mr. Philip Drummond on the hit sitcom Diff’rent Strokes, has died of natural causes at the age of 89. For most people, Bain falls into the “he’s still alive?” category due to his age and not being in the mainstream much in recent years.
Bain outlived fellow Diff’rent Strokes castmembers Gary Coleman, who died in 2010 at age 42, and Dana Plato, who died of a drug overdose at 34 years of age in 1999. This leaves Todd Bridges (47), who has his own troubled past, as the only surviving core castmember from Diff’rent Strokes.
