The week 9 Thursday Night Football contest ended in dramatic fashion as the Miami Dolphins upset the Cincinnati Bengals in overtime via a safety. Even though the Bengals are one of the “sexy” teams this year, it wasn’t THAT big of an upset with the Bengals only being favored by 2.5 against the spread. Our experts had Cincinnati winning the game, so now that we’ve gotten out one loss out of the way, here are the rest of the picks…

On the 1:00 slate, there appears to be a “passing of the torch” game when the Carolina Panthers host the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta was supposed to be one of the elite teams again this season, but too many injuries have taken their toll and the team has been doomed to mediocrity for the remainder of the 2013 season. The Panthers are favored by 7.5 in their own house today, and all indications are that they will cover.
Later on in the afternoon we see the Oakland Raiders hosting the Philadelphia Eagles in another example of the “mighty falling”. In this case, it was media hype that made the Eagles mighty in the first place. The Philly offense was the talk of the town after week 1, but they head to Oakland without having scored an offensive touchdown in two full games… both of which were against division opponents no less. Oakland is favored by a point spread of 2.5, and we have them covering that to bring their record to an even 4-4.
