Week 13 was everything that you want in the December football schedule as the top two teams (going into the week) in both conferences played each other. In both cases, the losing team is now tied for second in their respective conference. As far as the NFC is concerned, there may not be a team that can beat the Seahawks in Seattle, and the Saints are in trouble in the playoffs playing anywhere but home. Now that Thanksgiving week is in the rear view mirror, it is time for the free week 14 NFL picks and expert predictions.
Remember, it is getting cold out, so if you are heading out to these December games, please bundle up and wear a hat like the the gal to the left. No need to catch a cold for the Holidays.
It is hard to top the pair of games mentioned above, but there are three games on the week 14 NFL schedule that can come close. First off, at 1:00 on Sunday, the 7-5 NFC North-leading Detroit Lions head to Philly to play the Eagles. A loss could land a serious blow to either of these team’s playoff hopes. The Eagles are the standard home team 3-point favorite in the spread, which seems heavy if the Lions bring their A-game. We are calling an Eagles win, but they probably won’t be able to cover.
At 4:25 on Sunday, we see the Seattle Sehawks, who have already clinched a playoff berth, head to San Fran to take on the 49ers. A win for Seattle should give them the division, and make the playoff scenarios very interesting for the Niners. San Francisco still isn’t clicking enough on offense to take down Seattle so we’re calling this one in favor of the Seahawks, who are 3-point underdogs at the moment.

Finally, the match between the Panthers and Saints, in New Orleans, was flexed to the Sunday Night Football game, and rightly so. Both teams enter week 14 at 9-3 and tied at the top of the NFC South. Oddly enough, these teams have NOT played each other yet. The second game is in two weeks. New Orleans is a 4-point favorite at the moment and we are picking them to win and cover. The rematch could be quite different though, but let’s stick to week 14 for now and worry about week 16 when it comes.
