Hi!
I am new to TMR Zoo and I was just curious to know:
"How much does a DVD cost in your local area?"

I have heard that the prices are too much in Europe and USA. I belong to Pakistan and because of certain piracy issues the DVD prices are very less.
An original DVD can be bought for PKR 120 (Pakistani Rupees) which = US$1.5
Other DVDs can be bought for PKR40 even which = 50 Cents

There are also some DVDs which are imported/smuggled from China, Thailand, etc. These DVDs/Blue Ray Discs cost PKR120 = US$1.5 and contain more than 20 Hollywood Movies.

Are such DVDs available in your countries too?
The US takes it in the seat when it comes to DVDs. I think the US, Canada and England are the only countries paying $15 - $19 for a regular disk and $25 - $40 for a blu ray. It costs about 15 cents for studios to get a DVD into the stores. They should not cost more than the average admission into the film. It should actually be cheaper.

Wow! Its a huge sum of money. I think that it should definitely be much cheaper than $15.
You can get 2 dozen DVDs for that amount in Pakistan ;)

We have more choices for entertainment in the US but but the cost is so high. If I take my wife to the movies the cost is: tickets ($25) and refreshments ($20) and parking if we go into boston ($30) ...$15 dollars to wait for a movie to come out on DVD doesn't seem that bad. We can alway rent the movie for a $1 at Redbox or get it on demand for $5
