a friend and i got in a debate last night. he prefers beer over liquor because he says your body will digest it like food. he says that carbs + beer belly = stored fat (energy).

this sounds ridiculous to me. i think that drinking beer over liquor for this reason makes no sense and he should use his beer money for a big sandwich instead.

do any of you know what exactly our body does with beer? and if there's any REAL difference between beer and liquor?

If your friend is choosing between actual food and beer, he might have bigger issues then calorie intake.

well beer is a complex mixture of a number of ingredients that remain in the beverage while distilling removes almost everything from the alcohol baring a few other compounds that remain as impurities. Most alcohol gets flavoring from post distilling aging and conditioning.

now, a person can live on beer and water for about 6 weeks. Monks in Germany created doppelbock to drink when fasting during lent observations, but much more than that and you will be starving, literally.

I'd prefer good beer with delicious food for example :) No need to choose)

Yes there are slight differences between beer and liquor and the ingredients that are are mix in them have also some difference. Ans both of these must not be taken one after the another.
Beer is only food when you bake it into a bread

I would choose eating something healthy like semen rather than drinking beer if I am hungry.
Beer is not better for health because beer major factor is alcohol and alcohol cause many diseases for example cancer and breaking of brain cells.

I'm not sure if drinking beer is like eating food.

But Bob Blumer, a Canadian TV personality who does mainly food shows, once went to Ireland and lived on Guinness for a week. No food, just Guinness.

He was drunk as a skunk, but by the end of it, the doctors said he wasn't malnourished or anything like that.
