I'm talkin' big beautiful titans of gain. Titans wielding sledghammers and pummeling your signal chain.
I'm looking for something that brings new meaning to my definition of hot. I've had a few suggestions:
Alt 8
Nazgul
Etc.
Right now, I'm looking at the x2n. I really wish that Duncan and co wanted my business so I could buy the slug but I dunno if I want to go that route.
Whaddaya got? I'm looking to make a doom axe.[/quote]
Talk to David Plummer (Zhangbucker)
X2N is seriously hot. Like it totally pummels your preamp, hard. So hard that I would never want to play a metal gig with it because it causes horrendous squealing feedback entirely too easily. More easily than any other "metal" pickup I've played.
But it does produce some pretty thick punchy badass tones in studio.

man i hear ya, Its a pickup that constantly needs to be controlled with palm muting. ha
I have one in my last build and its just silly and totally not suited to the application. i mean its good but playing anything too high up makes for some ear poping midget shred

Not the Alt. 8. I've used it, and it wasn't even approaching the output of my Black Winter or '59/custom hybrid with an A8.
Fralin makes high output humbuckers should give Lindy a call , I will get a set eventually but I am going to do the Fishman Fluence build next. I also have the triple mini hums to do too ,so it is going to be in a year or 5.
Aaaaargh ! All these pickup choices. It's starting to sound like this ad.
I just want a pickup that blows ,thanks.
Keep me posted on the mojotone, Darth.
I'll go into more detail when I have time.
Meh, you couldn't use the Slug anyway unless your axe reeks of pot.
I breathed on his Ibanez for a few seconds, he should be good to go.
