Grabbed a set of Wilkinson 'buckers for my '62RI strat. The Hot humbucker set.

15k bridge, 7.5k neck. A5 mags, nickel silver baseplates

Didn't really feel like spending a ton of money for this HH upgrade. And I did look around for used Duncans and DMZs but I didn't want to get any of the more popular models i've already tried, so that left... nothing. Seriously, I couldn't find anything used and interesting for a good price.

Managed to score a good deal on the Wilkys though. About $50 for the set. Normally these sell for about $50 for each pickup. Good reviews from the entire Wilky pickup line, even the cheap OEM models, but these are the top of the line ones they make. Also got a few on/on/on DPDT switches coming, for this strat and my Jolly Roger strat. Gonna have series/split/parallel wiring on both guitars. Fun times.

Should be here by next week probably.
Cool beans, dude.

Let us know what you think of them. Cheap pickups can often be a great solution in the right guitar.
Definitely. I feel like everytime I get new parts to replace older parts, I gush over them soon as I get 'em, because the change from the previous stuff is so great. Usually, once I get past the honeymoon phase, I start noticing pitfalls and inadequacies.

I'm not expecting these to be the world's best pickups, but it'll at least put my strat into the right ballpark to be a convincing backup for some of my other guitars, all of which are #1 players (ie I'd be comfortable playing entire gigs with any of them).

Supposedly, they've got a tight low end, clear highs and a punchy midrange.
They sound pretty cool.

I've been wanting to try those "Slick" pickups lately. From what I've heard, they're supposed to cop a pretty groovy hot PAF tone
yeah I looked into those too. Seem interesting, but I've been seeing too many stories about inconsistent quality standards in GFS production. Also, the fact that the Slick pickups are only available in "rusted-to-shit" form, it's a bit of a turn-off. Wonder why they don't offer them in "new" form.
'Cuz rust gives tha vintage tonez, yo.
for those Corrosion of Conformity tones?

see what I did there? Corrosion? Rust is a product of corrosion.
