We've all had that experience - you pick up the most amazing guitar, kick on the most amazing pedal, or plug into the most amazing amp, and for whatever reason you can't bring it home with you. And when you finally can get it, it's gone.

What's that piece of gear for you? Is it a used piece that hasn't been made in years? Or perhaps it's a one off that you'll never see anything like again? Or maybe it's just a mass produced piece of gear that's simply too expensive? Dish.

For me, it's a Mesa Stiletto Ace. I played one probably about 7 or 8 years ago now, so nostalgia probably plays a big role in it, as well as the fact that I was a relatively new guitarist at that point and didn't really know tone like I do now. But I just remember plugging into that thing and it sung without any effort from me. Ever since I got my Egnater, I've had no gas for marshall type amps whatsoever... but if I found one of those for like $500 I'd jump on it in a second.

The best sounding amp/cab combo that I ever heard is a Bedrock head with a 4x12 cab filled with Randall Jaguar speakers. It was a brawny, gutsy amp.

I passed on a Gretsch High Roller in the 80s and I am still kicking myself. 

"Haunts" is a strong word. I'm pleased with my current equipment.

I feel worst about some of the stuff I owned and let get away from me , always been pretty poor so buying expensive gear has never been an option.

I have equipment worth much money that I didn't pay much to purchase. Patience pays off.

I dont have anything too great to mention besides a beat up model 1 charvel in pink that sold after i went and looked at it.

Anyway i got heaps of better gear now but still, PiNK bits!

It took me 3 years of waiting to buy my most recent piece of gear , I don't have the same options that the rest of you have. Zero income is a bitch to get around.

"Haunts" is kinda strong, but I was pretty smitten with a Savage Blitz 50 I played YEARS ago. The jumped Marshall setting on it was probably the best sounding overdrive I've ever heard from an amp. Too bad it was a 2x12'', expensive and ridiculously heavy.

One of the surprising amps I played a little over 5 months ago was a Swart AST Mk II. Imagine my surprise when I was going to show up to a jam with a Super Reverb and I find that thing waiting for me. One of the warmest, sweetest sounding amps I've heard. If I can find an AST Pro 1x12'' for a really good price then that just might be the amp that sits next to my Vibrolux.
