Dumbest most extravagant purchase to date - Securb - 04-02-2010 I was just looking at one of my dumbest purchases but I figures I would let the rest of you post before posting my stupidity. I constantly talk myself out of buying gadgets, sports jerseys and other high priced crap but every once in a while we all breakdown and plunk down hard earned cash on stupidity. Come on show me the stupid. Dumbest most extravagant purchase to date - 3dR3 - 04-05-2010 I bought the Garmin navi system for the woman 3 years ago for about 700 bucks. It had the MP3 player, and some other crap. Now my phone does all that for free.... ah fuck. I still use it though. the next model they came out with was much smaller to boot... double fuck. other than that I haven't had money to blow on anything stupid lately... Dumbest most extravagant purchase to date - 3daddict - 04-05-2010 Unfortunately, I had to buy many times before I realized the folly of trying to keep a cutting edge gaming computer. Now, I try to not laugh out loud at people who think they can "future-proof" their PC build. Anyone need some lightly used Pentium 4 mobos...? Dumbest most extravagant purchase to date - Securb - 06-26-2010 I was just straightening up my closet and saw my inspiration for this thread. When I was a kid we were not poor but a pair of $50 Nikes in the 70s were out of my reach. My Dad gave me the typical when you have your own money you buy any type of sneakers you want. So little to say I have was too many pairs of sneakers now. Every dumb brand and type you can think of. I spent $265 on a pair or Pirelli Driving Sneakers at Barney's a couple of years ago. Probaly about what my Dad made per week back in the 70s. If he were alive he would definitely call me a moron. I don't feel as stupid as my buddy that spent $120 on three pairs of socks that same day. (Yes Gator he was one of the other ushers in your wedding)
Dumbest most extravagant purchase to date - Speng - 06-26-2010 $120 on three pairs of socks! What kinds of magical powers do they possess? I'm still trying to narrow down a really dumb purchase. Back in the early 90's I dumped a shitload of money on vintage Star Wars toys. $150 on a little plastic action figure is pretty dumb. They possessed the power to piss off his girlfriend. We were in Barneys a single pair of tighty whities was $50. Speng Wrote:I'm still trying to narrow down a really dumb purchase. Buck fifty on a plastic doll... yes you are a moron welcome to the club. Dumbest most extravagant purchase to date - Gator - 06-27-2010 My dumbest, most expensive purchase to date is my time share in Florida. At the time, it was a great idea, and we even used it and traded the weeks a few times. But then I moved out of Florida and it became harder to use and even harder to trade. I've lost more weeks than I can count. Then, to make it worse I've found a super cheap Veteran's Vacation Club where they buy unused timeshare weeks from these places and sell them to veterans at a fraction of the cost for the week, with no membership fee or maintenence fees. We went to St. Thomas a few years ago for $249 for the week and stayed in a great place. I still have the figure, it's probably worth around $151 at this point. You could put it on EBAY but after listing fees and Pay Pal fees you are back in the hole 10 bucks. Unless you charge 15 bucks for shipping like some other assholes.
