It's a hybrid . Wood/metal.

Looks like you are getting there

RE: Vintage amp restoration. - GoldenVulture - 02-01-2017

Slowly and surely. A few too many other things to work on, to get this done quickly.

Finished wiring up almost. I will go over it and double check everything when done.
Then I'll power it up minus valves and measure all my voltages.

I've wired in two output jacks , one to the 8 Ohm tap and one to the 16 Ohm tap.
Only got one input jack wired up currently.
Presuming it tests good and then when loaded with valves, there will be more to do as in cutting up the pot shafts to length and clean the fuse mounts. Then maybe wire up an FX loop or some thing in the empty valve socket Evil

Ok. Finished the wiring and double checking everything. Good thing I did, I found a few mistakes. Fixed those and altered some of the layout.

Hooked it up for a power test Viz - no valves in.

It's getting late [ 5 AM here ] More testing tomorrow and then populate it with valves and see if it makes noises.

I though LLL was the only amp builder on the SDUGF

RE: Vintage amp restoration. - GoldenVulture - 03-12-2017

He claims to be one but he's never done a thread on his " builds " .
I suppose that really means he has no " cred " because by his own criterion, he has nothing to show except maybe some old builds. I don't think you can even find one at his Amped.shit site. [ or whatever it is]

RE: Vintage amp restoration. - GoldenVulture - 03-13-2017

Well I fired it up today after testing the rest of the power feeds.
It works albeit I have some crackling noise in the pre amp that I'll have to remedy. There's also what appears to be bias squeal when I dial the Volume controls [ Pre and MV ]all the way up. It seems pretty loud but I haven't been able to wind it all the way up yet. Sounds pretty crunchy wound up as far as I did. A little trouble shooting to do. A few pics.

RE: Vintage amp restoration. - GoldenVulture - 03-17-2017

Changed my pre amp valves and the crackling disappeared. V1 pre amp position seems to be microphonic, no matter what valve I put in there [ various 12AX7's ].
