It’s as American as all-get-out. Carl’s Jr. (AKA Hardee’s here in the South) has long been one of America’s best-known burger chains, and while they do have a 1400-calorie monster burger, they’ve been relegated to an also-ran lately thanks to weird new food items like the Friendly’s grilled-cheese burger melt, the KFC double-down, and even the Burger King pizza burger. Not anymore.

Determined to regain a slice of America’s attention, Carl’s Jr. is unveiling an 850-calorie, foot-long cheeseburger sandwich at 50 restaurants in California. If it goes well there, it’ll make tables nationwide.

The burger is a belly-busting beast. On a foot-long sub roll, you put not one, but three, cheeseburgers. A foot of meat and cheese will run you $4, with a $4.50 deluxe version (adding lettuce and tomato) also available.

I don’t see how this thing won’t become a huge hit. If there’s one thing Americans love, it’s getting a whole lot of food for very little price, and the price tag for a superburger is roughly the same as three normal cheeseburgers, but with additional bread and toppings. It’s big, but it’s not too big for the average eater.

Why would you want to ruin all that great meat and cheese with things like lettuce and tomato? That just takes up room where there could be more cheese.

I had the McRib for the first time and I liked it. Pork, BBQ sauce and a side of fries how can you fuck that up.

Dunkin' Donuts now has a Brat n Egg sandwich I will have to try it but I doubt if can compare to Hooch's with the runny, egg and gooey cheese.
