RE: What causes this? - skarydrunkguy - 10-13-2014 If thats an actual screenshot (as opposed to a photograph) then the problem is being rendered correctly as far as the monitor is concerned. The video is being sent badly, thus a bad cable is very unlikely. Its something with your vid card, vid driver, or some kind of sinister malware running amok. RE: What causes this? - LesStrat - 10-13-2014 Yes, it's a screenshot. Today the screen is perfectly clear. I got a bottle of Cheez Whiz. Then I noticed we had a box of Ritz crackers on the counter. Next thing I knew the Cheez Whiz bottle and the cracker box were both empty. RE: What causes this? - GoldenVulture - 10-14-2014 (10-13-2014, 09:20 PM)LesStrat Wrote: Yes, it's a screenshot. RE: What causes this? - GoldenVulture - 10-14-2014 OK, it sounds like it has a fault/faulty component. Hardware problem. If you haven't; Brand/model: match these with the manufacturers drivers and install them to ensure maximum functionality between it and the PC . Alternately. How old is it ? If it's five or so years old I suggest retiring it for a newer one. They're relatively cheap these days for what you get for your $. RE: What causes this? - GoldenVulture - 10-24-2014 Did you do anything that changed this situation ? RE: What causes this? - LesStrat - 10-24-2014 Not a thing, but it's been clear for over a week. RE: What causes this? - Dr. Vegetable - 10-25-2014 Good, good. Don't do anything for another week. RE: What causes this? - LesStrat - 12-24-2014 It very well could be a loose connection, but I'm not sure why. Both adapters are screwed into the connection. Yet the other day I wiggled the connector to the monitor and it got better. :( RE: What causes this? - GoldenVulture - 12-24-2014 Cleaning the the adaptors and plugs with contact cleaning fluid might help that. The pins slowly oxidise and create a film that blocks your electrical signal. This is worse if you live in high humidity areas. Something in a spray can is best for applying the fluid. ![]() No need to be fussy about what brand you get, most of them work the same.
