I play what's basically a 5150 pre in a pedal into 2 el34s. I have no problem getting them to hammer, I just prefer the feel and response of high output pickups.

Yeah, but the tri tab problem still remains.
I've actually decided on getting a D Activator after watching a few demos. I think I'm gonna keep the PAF 7n for now, though. I like it. It's not what I'm used to, but it's a very cool pickup.
