I fit a full 412 in one of my Firebirds, once.
Eventually that thing's gonna get torn up. Just gotta get that first ding...

If you want it to be safe in a truck strap it in with a ratchet strap or something of that nature. A packing blanket is a good idea too , would tell you to put it in the cab but then you would have guitars in the bed all over the place.
