RE: Vintage amp restoration. - Oinkus - 06-07-2016 Why are you only running 2 of the tubes ? I did have a full set but I can't find one. I just wanted to get it running before investing in a new set of valves. I'm thinking of using this as a base to do a 2203 build with KT88's.
RE: Vintage amp restoration. - GoldenVulture - 06-17-2016 I've ordered some more appropriate cans including the multi cap. They're coming from the US so it will be a few weeks before I see them. I'm going to start accumulating bits to turn into into a KT88 output section and use the Marshal pre-amp configuration. I figure I can probably just de-solder all the socket connects and others [ controls ]from the tag boards and remove them intact and connected as they are. That would leave me with a chassis and transformers and valve sockets. I want to take all that off and clean the chassis of the top surface corrosion and then maybe spray it. Then start repopulating it with transformers and tag boards and parts. RE: Vintage amp restoration. - Oinkus - 06-18-2016 Waiting on a ton of stuff myself , mail is sloow. Looks like you are going to have some fun with that , should be pretty dern loud too ! RE: Vintage amp restoration. - GoldenVulture - 06-18-2016 I'm figuring around 150 watts. Also: I do have a quad of 6L6's that could be used in theory but the H.T. in this amp is much too high for them so I gave it a miss. :old: RE: Vintage amp restoration. - GoldenVulture - 06-21-2016 (06-17-2016, 10:26 PM)GoldenVulture Wrote: I've ordered some more appropriate cans including the multi cap. [21st] I thought it would be weeks longer, other stuff in the past has been. I'm going to try a few different preamp valves and fool around with it a bit and then start stripping it down to clean the chassis and give it a paint job on the outer surfaces. I need to order some more stuff now so I can do a KT88 build. IN They're double cans actually. They were the only ones I could find in a can configuration and high enough voltage at the right value. Gives me a spare " cap " in each can which gives it double life potentially. They'll probably outlast me.
