New Microphone Day - GoldenVulture - 03-14-2017 I was looking to expand my microphone collection. I really only had one good mic. An AKG C1000s Condensor mic. I saw this online a while back and thought about it. - http://www.bumblebeepro.com/ - I finally decided to go for it. An RM6 kit. It's come all the way from Latvia [ near Russia ] to country Australia in about ten days. [Tracking went- Latvia. Holland, France, United Arab Emirates , Aust ] It's a Ribbon Microphone which are not so common these days and if there any good they're usually expensive. In the $1000+ range. I saved about $100 getting the kit instead of assembled. It was around twenty minutes of assembly and soldering. Not much to do, just care to be taken while doing so. Ribbon mics are more bottom end responsive and pretty good at capturing it. It's all together and working. I have to road test it now. RE: New Microphone Day - LesStrat - 03-15-2017 I'd pay for assembled. I don't get along with soldering irons. Congrats, W. RE: New Microphone Day - Securb - 03-15-2017 Ken Scott was asked to write liner notes for the Tubes album he engineered. They wanted him to be sarcastic in the notes. He said he used Sennheiser ribbon mics on the bass drums. Of course, it was a joke, and Sennheiser got pissed off because of the huge amount of mics that were being returned with their ribbons blown. |
