I am sad the 79 Deluxe has gone in for a refret but it should be a quick turnaround he is already working on it today.

No need to be sad - it will come back in due time better than it ever was!

Yeah and then the owner is going to take it home with him but I will get to play it for a little while at least.

God, I love Lesters! They are one of the most beautiful guitars ever made.

Have to get a Deluxe and add a third mini to it now , maybe a DC ? I still have 3 on my stand had to unpack the Custom. And the verdict is the 81 Custom is so much better than all the rest of these still thinking about putting a third pickup in it at some point

And it is back ! Soooooooooo nice ! How a few simple hardware upgrades and a perfect fretjob change a nice guitar into a fantastic one ! He is coming back next week so I will have a few more days to molest it. Look the other way , nothing to see here.

Whats up with the white one?

RE: 1979 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe - Oinkus - 08-28-2017

The 09 Studio has some yellowish marks on it I was trying to determine if they would come off. Seems to be i the paint, I removed some clear with 2000 grit wet sand paper it never changed color at all. That tells me it is in the paint would require a refinish and I am tapping out for zero dollars.Nice guitar , light has a thick 50s style neck. 490 pickup set in it , sounds great for a budget LP. It is really light , did I mention that enough ? It is getting a Babicz TOM , Planet Waves tuning machines , Dunlop Straplocks and some .09 Cleartones will be all done for under $100 labor plus parts. Not really doing anything besides Strap locks to the 03.

Hey-who does good fretwork in our area? Back in San Diego, good techs were everywhere. Here...not so much.

Kenny Marshall is the only Luthier that has ever worked on my guitars. He does world class fret jobs and it is pricey , I don't know anyone else. I would bet that Alpha Music has a decent staff.
