I would grab a QB off the scrap heap and put that $14M into supplementing an aging defense. Who knows if Cassel is the real deal or not.

30 Million per year for QBs it doesnt pass the smell test. I thought the rules were that you are not supposed to franchise unless you plan on keeping the player. It sounds like they are trying to handcuff Cassell so they can get something for him

I guess they can trade him after they tag him, but he is still guaranteed that salary from someone. What team would give up something in a trade, then be locked into that deal?
