Any Linux Users - Securb - 03-29-2009 Any other Linux users out there. I have been using it on and off for years. I like when I work on the site, sometimes when I am removing spammer links I click on them and with Linux I dont have to worry about viruses or spyware. I can also rip my CDs that come with a ton of copywrite protection on them. Plus it just runs so much better. The only thing that sucks is installing software. But after much frustration and time I finally figured out how to get bit torrent installed on the machine now I am rockin ![]() What a pain, I had to install "Wine" to install "uTorrent" "Wine" wouldn't install until I installed "Cabextract" once I did that it was as easy as installing a windows app. I can't tell how happy I was to see that auto installer pop up box. If you have an old PC that is running crappy I strongly suggest installing Madriva on it instead of throwing it out. It runs faster and more reliable that windows and it is free. Any Linux Users - Speng - 03-29-2009 I used to run Redhat years ago but I got irritated and abandoned it after a few months. I was thinking about giving it another try one of these days, I have a few computers just sitting idle. Any Linux Users - Securb - 03-30-2009 I would sugest Mandriva it is a free download and very Mac like with the interface. Any Linux Users - Speng - 03-30-2009 I'll have to look into that. Offhand, do you know how large is the download? Any Linux Users - Securb - 03-30-2009 It is about 650 MB, you can buy the disk from them, a flash drive with the OS on it or you can download it for FREE. You can install it on the computer or run it off of the CD. |
