Deputy Hits, Kills Man Leaving Jail
56-Year-Old Orlando Man Struck, Killed, FHP Says
ORLANDO, Fla. -- An Orlando man was struck and killed by a sheriff's deputy's cruiser outside the Orange County Jail minutes after he was released from the facility
Orange County sheriff's Deputy Armando Harwood, 43, of Orlando, was driving northbound in a marked patrol vehicle at about 3:10 a.m. when he approached 33rd Street and had a green light, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said. The man attempted to cross the street and was struck, troopers said.
The 56-year-old victim's name has not been released.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
John Young Parkway has reopened in the area.
