I quit around 4 years ago check this shit out.
Smokers are used to coughing up a lot -- but this is getting ridiculous.
The price on a pack of cigarettes has skyrocketed to $14.50 at some New York City stores thanks to a hefty new tax -- leaving even the most nicotine-addicted buttheads considering nixing their fix.
"This is my last cigarette ever!" fumed William MacLeod, 45, of Brooklyn. "At $15 a pack, this is ridiculous. It's a good excuse for me to quit."
Ella Maxine, a small-business owner from Park Slope, Brooklyn, almost choked on her smokes when she had to plunk down $15 for a pack of American Spirits cigarettes at Smiler's Deli on Fifth Avenue near 46th Street.

That's insane. They jacked the cig tax up here last year, I don't know what they get for a pack, I know it's not $15.
I'm glad I never picked up the habit. It's a miracle I didn't because my whole immediate family used to smoke.

I quit 20 years ago next month, and I'm glad I did, considering the way the costs have gone up in the past few years.
This will kill you: I remember paying $4 a carton when we were out at sea, once we got into international waters.
Then I remember a whole summer (maybe '86 or '87), when I paid about $5 a carton for Salem Lights on a promotion they were running on military bases where they had a $4 coupon off your next carton, so only the very first one you bought was like, $9, then every carton after that was 5 bucks for the next 3 months until they ended the promotion.

No, I smoked menthols because I started smoking in the 6th grade with Brian Rodgers and that's what he smoked, and I never switched until I moved to Israel and they were too hard to find.
