Mixed feelings - LesStrat - 08-16-2014
My son recently sold his house and decided to move to Florida. In the meantime his family has moved into my house.
It's great that we get to spend time with our grandsons before they move 6 hours away. My wife has seen the boys nearly every day of their lives up to this point. It will be hard when they're gone.
On the other side, the interlopers have taken over my house. My son works 14/7, so he's gone most of the time. His wife goes nowhere and let's the boys trash the place. She is VERY passive in her parenting approach. She will verbally correct repeatedly rather than physically intervening.
"Reid, get away from Tate. Reid. Reid. Reid!" "Waaaaaaaa!"
When he didn't move the first time, she should MOVE him. He's 3.
Right now there is a 1/2 eaten bowl of oatmeal on the table, along with leftovers from lunch. I can't even get to the living room furniture.
Add to that the fact that he epitomizes the "strong-willed child." I can't imagine how she'll manage on her own. She has often called for assistance when she became overwhelmed. That's was easy when they lived 1.5 miles away.
Even worse, she is incapable of multitasking.
I don't want the boys 300 miles away, but I want my house back.
Thank God for the man cave.

I'd be more worried about after the move. Just based on the brief description, I see stressful times ahead. Lets hope I'm wrong.

Yes, but on the plus side, most of those stressful times will be happening 300 miles away.

Cranking an amp inside the house would not work. Thankfully I no longer need to do so.
The DIL bought me a sign for my b-day that says, "What happens in the man cave stays in the man cave."

There may be additional interlopers in the near future. My SIL and her teenaged daughter might need a place to stay for awhile.

Frankly the SIL has needed to get away for a couple of years.
