What do these have in common? - CTN - 01-22-2015

John Lee Hooker - Boom Boom
Allman Bros - Stormy Monday
Tracy Chapman - Gimme One Reason
Dusty Springfield - Son of a Preacher Man
Fleetwood Mac - The Chain
Bill Withers - Aint No Sunshine
CCR - I Put A Spell On You

Fuck you I'm not letting you guess.

My band's covering all of em.

headbang headbang headbang

We're going through stormy monday, gimme one reason and son of a preacher man tomorrow. Can't wait.

I've also switched to an almost entirely finger-picking based playing style and rarely use my pick with this stuff. Mostly out of necessity due to needing maximum dynamic control and a smoother, warmer sound outta my strat. It's a trip, playing songs and styles that I'm completely not used to.

I dig that list, "we play a few of those as well."

I had to beg to stop doing, Put A Spell On You. For it to be such a cool song, it's just boring as hell to play. We traded that one for, As Long As I Can See The Light.

hahaha.

I think I might convince them to do Since I've Been Loving You or Tea for One.

Gonna be hard to pull off really well though. Also we still need to find a keyboardist.

You should do a Bill Withers twofer - do the clav part on your guitar.

Would rather get a keyboardist play the clav parts and me play the guitar parts, tbh.

cool song though.

That's an awesome list, Ryan. I'd love to play any/all of those, especially The Chain. That's probably my favorite Fleetwood Mac song, aside from perhaps the live version of Rhiannon. The vocal harmonies are sublime, and the orchestration is just top notch all around. That should be fun to play.

'Tis dope you're getting way into the blues. I'd love to have some blues jam buds... but if I brought my gigantic pedalboard I'd probably get laughed at until I left haha
