With the dual threat in the back field, Brown/Williams and the major upgrades to the offensive line, Long - I think a big TE like Shockey could get the running game to the next level. That would take a ton of pressure off of McCowan/Beck and free up our shitty receivers.

I'm surprised you would want Shockey. He'd be a good fit for a team that needs a few players to get over the hump, but not a team in total rebuild mode.
