Rocket find - LesStrat - 01-26-2015

This wonderful little piece of handy malware managed to find its way to my PC. I think I've removed everything, and I'm running scans again. Meanwhile my PC won't connect to the Internet in any browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome). I followed the directions from a couple of webpages dedicated to this beast.

Argh!

Malware designers deserve to be slowly and painfully tortured for several weeks.

What have you used to remove it ?
A registry clean is always helpfull to rid you of these malware things.

RE: Rocket find - LesStrat - 01-26-2015

I removed files through regedit. I searched numerous times until I couldn't find anymore files under the rocket name.

I restored all browsers to default settings to disable any add ons. I deleted extensions/add ons.

I had removed Malwarebytes antimalware a few months ago because it was not working well. Sadly, it is one of the recommended programs for removing Rocket. There are a couple of other removal programs I found, but since I can't get on the 'net on my PC, I can't download them.

I just had the media update 12.2 happening and ran malwarebytes , it made my computer not work anymore stopping basic functions automatically and not allowing my to change anything about it. Take a traveldrive to the library or someone elses house and download it.

I'm bringing the laptop home from work today.

MWB Antimalware found some related files.

Adw Cleaner found some things as well.

So far, so good. We'll see if any other browsing issues occur.

This beast is typically attached to a free update (e.g., java, etc.). I do not know what it got downloaded with, but it definitely hijacked my browsers.

So you can get back online now ?
Run your reg clean again too.

RE: Rocket find - LesStrat - 01-27-2015

Argh. Maybe not. Chrome is disengaging again.

I don't have a registry cleaner. I manually deleted the files...repeatedly until they no longer appeared.

RE: Rocket find - GoldenVulture - 01-27-2015

There's plenty around.

Thanks. I will try it later.

I'm beginning to think that this issue is combining with an intermittent wireless problem, but I haven't caught it yet. We'll see.

Hey, it has been awhile since I've last offered my PC problems for your entertainment!
