NWD... New wood day - CTN - 05-09-2015
Well, i done got me some wood. This is gonna get turned into a new, streamlined, smaller pedalboard. I haven't figured out a power solution yet but i might end up getting a pedaltrain volto.

Couple of pieces of pine forbthe structural base, and a few pieces of fairly straight grained oak for laminating as the decorative visible sides.
Gonna stain it all a dark reddish brown with minwax polyshades. On it i shall put my korg pitchblack and a couple of boosts and overdrives. I might alao invest in a TC hall of fame reverb for this.
Excited! Lotta projects on the go for the summer.

Awesome! You always have the coolest projects so I'm sure this will be awesome.
Just curious, have you thought about tolexing it instead of staining it? Yeah it costs more, which won't work if you're super budget conscious for this project, but tolex boards are awesome, especially two toned ones.

What is wrong with a Boss Tuner and a daisy chain ? I use(d) one to power 20 some odd pedals.

Well the nice thing about the Volto is that it's rechargable via USB, so you don't even need to plug it in to power your pedals.

Honestly, it never crossed my mind. I just enjoy woodworking and wanted to see some wood grain under a dark reddish brown stain. My other pedalboard is all black and boring as fuck, not to mention messy. I'm probably gonna get some cables with low-profile pancake-style ends, so i can wire the whole thing neatly. I don't gig often enough to warrant a significant investment into a super nice pedalboard.

Current/voltage restrictions mostly. I have a Godlyke Power-all daisychain on my current board and it's serviceable. I'll likely use it until I can save up some scratch for the Volto. TBH I haven't exactly worked out all the details of the power supply. I might just end up getting a full size db11 or Voodoo Labs power supply. Mostly cuz I would much rather be running my EP booster and OCD at 18V. And my TC Nova Repeater likes being at 12V, not 9V. Though if I'm getting a HOF reverb, then that'll change. I still have some pedal and power issues to work out.

That's what I like about it too. And if I come up with a nice mount for it, I can just remove it from the board to recharge it and leave the board at the jamspace. But it's kinda limited in terms of variable voltage supply solutions......................... need to do some thinking and see if I can make it all work. might need to make some compromises.

I agree, black is definitely boring. But if you're not super attached to seeing wood grain (though it sounds like you are) perhaps a purple and gold tolex board might catch your fancy?

Also tolexing is a fucking pain in the ass. I had enough of it when I was doing that hardshell case for my Polaris. I'd rather not have to deal with it again if I don't have to.
