Endangered Woods List? - Snake Aces - 06-27-2015

Does anyone know where I can find reliable information regarding the scarcity of species of woods commonly used in electric guitars? I am searching for this information and I get so many different sites with conflicting information. I am curious how scarce woods like wenge, Indian rosewood and ebony are becoming specifically (before I order a neck).

I am still kicking myself for not ordering a Brazilian rosewood neck when I had the chance.

Except that there are some woods that can result in confiscation upon re entering the U.S.

That's a scary thought. Any idea what woods these might be?

It is whatever the Feds have determined are endangered.

I remember a couple of articles about it, but I had no reason to keep a list. Falbo might know.

For awhile there was even the threat of losing an instrument upon return that you took with you. I think Congress closed that loophole. Now it's supposed to be import only.

Come to think of it, Taylor Guitars is usually a good source for wood knowledge.
