Something very special - Oinkus - 09-21-2015 My friend that is dying from cancer gave me his 1978 Alvarez Yairi DY 85 , in pretty good shape for it's age. Original owner I do believe he bought it several years after it was new but never taken off the rack. He has had it at least 30 - 35 years. Got a case and a stand with it.

RE: Something very special - Oinkus - 09-28-2015 After a good scrubbing of the fretboard and oiling , polishing the frets seems to have it in best condition it can be. Had a set of Grover 18:1 Rotomatics that came off the MK so they went on because the old ones were in bad shape with gaps in them etc. A little tightening of the truss rod made the action good everywhere (most likely never turned since 1978) I dug a set of bridge pins out of the Hondo II until I can get a Tusq set.
RE: Something very special - GoldenVulture - 09-28-2015 Nice looking wood RE: Something very special - Oinkus - 09-28-2015 Heavily figured Brazilian Rosewood back and sides Just a little bit of tweaking and it is by far the best acoustic guitar in this house.
