Vintage Speaker - GoldenVulture - 07-31-2016 I've got a vintage speaker that I bought from a garage sale about ten years ago It came in a cabinet and cost me Au$20. The garage sale was at the deceased estate of an uncle of a friend of mine. By the time I got there most things had gone. Uncle was an old HiFi buff from way back. He'd obviously made the speaker cabinet. I also scored a 60's all valve Revox reel to reel two track tape recorder for Au$25. I was looking around for some info about it a couple of days ago when I found a couple of ads for second hand speakers of the same type. I was just FLABBERGASTED at their price. - http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Vintage-Vitavox-12-DU120-Duplex-Speaker-Drive-Unit-Tannoy-/182120612329 - Quote:Vintage Vitavox 12" DU120 Duplex Speaker Drive Unit Tannoy - http://www.ebay.ie/itm/182111996296 - Quote: RE: Vintage Speaker - Funkfingers - 07-31-2016 (07-31-2016, 04:15 AM)GoldenVulture Wrote: I was just FLABBERGASTED at their price. To paraphrase Frankie Howard, your Flabber has never been so gasted. That must be approximately AU$1000. RE: Vintage Speaker - GoldenVulture - 07-31-2016 (07-31-2016, 05:01 AM)Funkfingers Wrote: To paraphrase Frankie Howard, your Flabber has never been so gasted. Yes around that.. How about the second one I put up. It comes in a cabinet for an extra 170 pounds. RE: Vintage Speaker - GoldenVulture - 07-31-2016 Here's mine. [img][/img] [img][/img] RE: Vintage Speaker - Securb - 07-31-2016 Sell that speaker and go on holiday RE: Vintage Speaker - GoldenVulture - 07-31-2016 I'm certainly thinking it could fund something else.[ Travel/gear ] I must look up what the Revox might be worth. If you zoom in I think you should be able to identify that it's a bag of screws for the back panel. Putting scews and things in bags when dismantling things can save one a lot of frustration later. Maybe that's what i'll do if I sell this speaker.... Blow it on drugs. RE: Vintage Speaker - Dr. Vegetable - 08-07-2016 Don't sell it. Do drugs and listen to Meddle on that speaker. I guarantee results. Nice score! Now you just need three more exactly like it so you can break out Quadrophenia. RE: Vintage Speaker - GoldenVulture - 08-07-2016 (08-07-2016, 11:04 AM)Dr. Vegetable Wrote: Don't sell it. I could down mix it to mono and use the single speaker.. |
