Accused of repeatedly exposing himself at a SeaTac bar, a 41-year-old man has been charged with indecent exposure with sexual motivation. On Jan. 3, King County prosecutors claim in charging documents, Basim

Salim Abdul-Rahim was seated in the bar of the 13 Coins restaurant when a bartender there noticed he was staring at her. The woman became concerned when she realized Abdul-Rahim was fondling himself.
Abdul-Rahim fled before police arrived, a King County detective said in court documents, leaving behind a container of Vaseline.

Two days later he allegedly returned to the restaurant, prompting the bartender to call the police to report that a man who'd repeatedly exposed himself was siting at the bar, according to court documents. Deputies arrested Abdul-Rahim, finding his hands coated with petroleum jelly.

Confronted by police, Abdul-Rahim allegedly admitted to frequenting the bar but denied following the bartender, according to prosecutors' statements.

Questioned about his Vaseline-covered hands, he said he'd been having phone sex with his wife, prosecutors alleged. She denied the claim but offered that her husband had previously been convicted on similar charges in Clallam County.

Abdul-Rahim, also known as James Thomas Triblett, was jailed but has since been released after posting bond.

Malaysian police have arrested a Lebanese man allegedly carrying fake currency with a face value of $66 million after he tipped a hotel staff with a $500 note, an official said Friday.

The largest U.S. note currently in wide circulation is a $100 bill. But police found bundles of $1 million, $100,000 and $500 notes in the man's hotel room in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, said Izany Abdul Ghany, head of the city's commercial crime unit.

Hotel staff alerted police after a housekeeper received a $500 note tip and found out it was fake when she tried to convert it to local currency at a money changer, Izany said.

The man could be charged for possessing counterfeit money and, if found guilty, face up to 10 years in jail, he said.

The largest U.S. note ever printed was a special edition one for $100,000 in 1934. Bills of $500 were last printed in 1945 and are now no longer in wide circulation, according to the U.S. Treasury Department.
This is not the first time the man has been in trouble with the law in Malaysia, Izany said.

A Malaysian court charged him last week with cheating over the sale of office supplies in 2005 in a separate case. Cheating, or fraud, carries a maximum penalty of five years.

A German reptile collector has been jailed for 14 weeks and must pay a 5,000 New Zealand dollar ($3,540) fine for plundering New Zealand's wild gecko and skink populations, a judge has ruled.

Hans Kurt Kubus, 58, is to be deported to Germany as soon as he is released from prison, Judge Colin Doherty ordered Tuesday.

Kubus was caught by wildlife officials at Christchurch International Airport on South Island in December, about to board an overseas flight with 44 geckos and skinks in a hand-sewn package concealed in his underwear.

He admitted trading in exploited species without a permit and hunting absolutely protected wildlife without authority, pleading guilty to two charges under the Wildlife Act and five under the Trade in Endangered Species Act.

Department of Conservation prosecutor Mike Bodie told Christchurch District Court that Kubus could have faced potential maximum penalties of 500,000 dollars and six months in prison.

Bodie told Doherty that the department sought a deterrent sentence for "the most serious case of its kind detected in New Zealand for a decade or more."

The geckos may have been worth 2,000 euros ($2,800) each on the European market, he noted.

"Internationally, this type of trade is prevalent and is on the increase worldwide and can be lucrative," he said.

Customs records showed that Kubus had also been to New Zealand in 2001, 2004, 2008, and 2009. In 2008, he had been with a Swiss reptile dealer.

Doherty said Kubus had come to New Zealand and set about poaching the animals in a premeditated way which would have had an impact on particular colonies.

There was a potential for Kubus to end up with far more animals than he could have housed in his own collection and the rest would have been sold.

"I don't think you necessarily came here to steal to sell, but I am sure the fact that you might have had excess was figured into your thinking," said the judge, describing the offending as "pretty close to the worst case."

JANUARY 27--When a registered sex offender recently arrived at an Ohio home for a planned tryst with a 15-year-old girl he met on the Internet, the man was carrying two items to be used during their illicit encounter. One was a 36-pack of Trojan condoms.

The other was a copy of "The Fame Monster," Lady Gaga's chart-topping second album. John Szewczyk, 28, was named today in a U.S. District Court complaint charging him with enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity, a felony.

The minor in question, named "Liz," was actually Steve Grubbs, an undercover cop who met Szewczyk in a Yahoo chat room. According to the federal complaint, a copy of which you'll find below, Szewczyk told "Liz" that he wanted to "do the deed" with her as long as she consented. Szewczyk asked "Liz" if she was on birth control, and "when she said that she was," he noted that "they would be protected in two ways" since he would use a condom.

When Szewczyk was collared on January 11, investigators found a box of condoms and the Lady Gaga CD in his pockets (Szewczyk brought the album, which includes the hit "Bad Romance," with him at the request of "Liz"). Szewczyk, pictured in the above mug shot, was convicted in 2007 of two felony counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. As a result, his name is included on Ohio's statewide

Leif Garrett booked for having heroin in LA subway

LOS ANGELES – Former 1970s teen idol Leif Garrett has been released from jail on a charge he carried heroin into a Los Angeles subway station.

Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore says the actor and singer was arrested late Monday for heroin possession and released on bond Wednesday.

Whitmore says the 48-year-old was shaking and sweating.

Whitmore says Garrett denied having drugs at first and allowed them to search him, then acknowledged that he had black tar heroin in his shoe.

Garrett has a history of drug use, including a 2006 arrest at another Los Angeles subway stop for having heroin.

He is due back in court Feb. 24.

It was not immediately clear if Garrett had an attorney.
